On our Blue Mountains Sunset Tours, you’ll start by walking through Sydney’s busy streets and colorful neighborhoods. Then, in the late morning, you’ll leave. From there, the trip takes you to the Blue Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with steep valleys, tall sandstone cliffs, and infinite eucalyptus woods. This area has something for everyone, whether you want to take a leisurely walk, go on a photo quest, or just relax in nature. You will also find strong Aboriginal cultural ties and beautiful settlements in the high hills that provide a nice break from the city.
This tour takes place after the time changes for daylight saving time. The departure times change with the seasons to make the most of the sunset.
Join our Blue Mountains Sunset Tours and see how the landscape changes in the soft afternoon light, culminating in a stunning sunset over rugged hills and wide valleys. This plan takes you to the top sights in Blue Mountains National Park, including the famous Three Sisters. The later start and end times are better for those who want to avoid the morning bustle.
You might see native Australian animals and visit natural treasures like Wentworth Falls along the route. With experienced guides showing you the way, you can be sure to see amazing views and lush forests all day long.
This easy trip through the Blue Mountains lets you avoid the throng and see the area in the gentler light of late afternoon. This schedule is designed to help you avoid the busiest times of day in Sydney. You start and end your trip later, which gives you more time to enjoy the changing colours of the escarpments and valleys as the sun sets over the hills.
If you leave late in the morning, you can spend more time in the city before going to one of the most famous World Heritage-listed landscapes in the world. The Blue Mountains are about 50 kilometres from the Sydney CBD. They are recognised for their stunning sandstone formations, wide forested valleys, and abundant native animals. They are also very important to Aboriginal culture. The blue haze typical of the area drifts across the eucalyptus canopy, making the view unique from the moment you arrive.
You start your day with a quick break for refreshments in either Glenbrook or Leura, two lovely mountain towns that are the gateway to the high country. As you walk through the hamlet and take in its ancient charm, stop into local cafes, bakeries, and small shops to get something to eat on your own.
From here, we go further into the woods to look for kangaroos in their native habitat. Many Australian native species are very active at dusk. If you’re lucky, you might spot kangaroos grazing in open spaces or silently wandering through the scrub.
Next, we continue into the beautiful Jamison Valley, known for its wide canyon views and steep cliff lines. Stand in front of the famous Three Sisters and take a beautiful bushwalk through the tall trees to one of New South Wales’ most beautiful waterfalls. A 90-minute nature walk leads you down to the base of Wentworth Falls, which is about the same as climbing and descending eight flights of steps. The lush vegetation and the sound of the water flowing make it the perfect place to be in nature.
To end the day, we go to either Echo Point Lookout or Lincoln’s Rock, two famous places with great views. As the sun sets behind the far mountains, it casts lengthy shadows across the valleys, cliffs, and forests. Watching the mountains change from warm gold to deep blue is the perfect way to finish your time in the high country.
We stop for a short break on the way back to Sydney before finishing the pleasant evening trip. We can be flexible with our schedule year-round because our tour is all about the sunset experience. This way, you won’t miss those last exquisite moments of daylight.

We at Australia Tours are committed to protecting the native plants and animals we see on our Sydney Tours. We are proud to ensure that our visits have as little impact as possible on this World Heritage-listed area and the animals that live there. We also ask that guests be culturally aware and respect the Traditional Owners of the land throughout the trip.
One of our responsibilities is to teach travellers about low-impact travel and to explain why wildlife conservation and environmental protection are important at every stop we make.
Visit https://www.ecotourism.org.au/ to find out more about EcoTourism.
Australia Tours honours the Traditional Custodians of Country, especially the Wurundjeri people. We ask that all guests respect the stories, customs, and strong spiritual ties that First Nations communities have with the land.
You should always watch wild creatures with respect and not get in their way. Don’t make sudden movements, keep your voice down, and never touch, feed, or try to handle any animal, even birds. Human contact can introduce hazardous bacteria, affect behaviour, and even provoke aggressive responses.
Only trained wildlife experts are allowed to feed or touch local animals. Feeding wildlife can change their natural foraging behaviour and expose them to unsafe conditions.
Please let your Guide/Tour Leader, a National Park Ranger, or Visitor Centre staff know right away if you see an animal in trouble or hurt.
Guests must stay on designated paths, remain behind safety barriers, and obey all rules given by guides. Going off the trail can damage fragile habitats, disturb nesting sites, and harm native plants. There are also hazards such as unstable ground, slick surfaces, cliff edges, and falling branches.
You shouldn’t remove rocks, flowers, dead wood, or leaves from the park. These are essential parts of the ecosystem and should not be disturbed.
We provide trash cans in our vehicles, so please do not dispose of food scraps outside. Even biodegradable items like fruit peels or bread can attract pests, spread disease, or harm wildlife.
We highly recommend bringing a reusable water bottle for our Grampians Tour. Buying single-use bottles adds to unnecessary plastic waste. You can refill your bottle in our vehicles. Remember to stay hydrated throughout the day to reduce the risk of heat-related problems.
All guides hold a current Level 2 First Aid certification. If you feel sick or injured, please inform your guide immediately. Guests with known medical conditions should bring any necessary medication and notify the guide at the start of the tour.
If you smoke, please use approved smoking areas and stay away from other guests. Smoking is not permitted in accommodation, including permanent campgrounds, or in vehicles. Although comfort stops are scheduled regularly, they may not always align with smoke breaks. Please dispose of cigarette butts responsibly.
You may pick up from several locations throughout central Sydney. The tour starts at the Mercure Central Sydney, located at 818–820 George St, Little Regent St Entrance. In winter, it starts at 10:00 a.m.; in summer, it starts at 12:00 p.m. Guests should wait at the entrance to the Little Regent St laneway, just around the corner from George St.
Departure times change seasonally to make the most of daylight conditions.

The tour operates in rain or cloudy conditions, unless it is deemed unsafe to enter Blue Mountains National Park. Only severe weather would result in cancellation.
Eucalyptus trees release tiny oil droplets that mix with dust and water vapour in the air. This scatters short-wavelength blue light, creating the region’s famous blue haze.
