Explore the floodplains of Ubirr, Maguk (Barramundi Gorge), Gunlom Falls, & Litchfield National Park. At 3 Day Kakadu & Litchfield Tour, we offer an unforgettable journey through Australia’s ancient landscapes. Experience breathtaking waterfalls, stunning views, and the rich tapestry of Aboriginal culture. Our meticulously planned travel arrangements ensure passenger safety and well-being while exploring natural habitats and wildlife experiences in comfortable clothing, regardless of the weather.
As we leave Darwin and head into the Mary River Wetlands, get ready for your first taste of Top End wildlife on the Corroboree Billabong Wetland Cruise. It’s the best time to see a wide variety of birds and keep an eye out for the area’s biggest animals, the saltwater crocodiles.
We next head into Kakadu National Park, pausing at the Bowali Visitor Centre for an introduction to the region’s landscapes, ecosystems, and cultural history. After we set up camp, we travel north to Cahills Crossing, on the border between Kakadu and Arnhem Land. Then we visit Ubirr to watch the sunset. This remarkable rock art site showcases some of the best-preserved Aboriginal art in Australia. The hike to the summit offers sweeping views over the Nadab Floodplain, an ideal location to watch the sunset.
We return to our tent in high spirits, prepare dinner together, and relax under the southern sky.

Your guide will select the most suitable waterfall experience based on group fitness and seasonal access. Possible locations include Gunlom Falls, Motor Car Falls, Moline Rockhole, Maguk (Barramundi Gorge), or Jim Jim Falls. Accessibility varies by season, but the experience is always memorable.
If time permits, we also visit Burrungkuy (Nourlangie Rock), where archaeological discoveries reveal more than 20,000 years of occupation. Here, we explore how Traditional Owners adapted to environmental and social changes over time. After a full day of walking, swimming, and sightseeing, we return to camp for dinner and a peaceful evening beneath the stars.

To provide a comfortable base while exploring Kakadu National Park and Litchfield National Park, our trips utilise designated permanent campgrounds. These locations offer a private dining area and a shared kitchen for cooking and relaxing as a group, conveniently located next to shared hot showers and restroom blocks.
We occasionally collaborate with multiple providers to ensure everyone is well cared for, as we travel to isolated areas with limited lodging options. Please note that suppliers may change at any time.
A great option for solo adventurers seeking an affordable and authentic experience.
Ideal for travellers who prefer basic shelter from the Top End elements.
The nearby campground operated by Aurora Kakadu Lodge & Caravan Park provides male and female restrooms with hot showers, located a short walk from camp. A torch is recommended for nighttime mobility.
The campgrounds are powered by solar energy, supplying electricity to the common dining and food-preparation areas. There are no power outlets in the permanent eco tents. With limited shared charging stations available, it is highly recommended to bring rechargeable batteries or a personal power bank. Mobile service is usually poor, and wifi is not available at campsites.
Due to their remote locations, Kakadu and Litchfield have limited phone reception. Your guide will typically carry a satellite phone for emergencies.
Kakadu National Park: While many regions remain without coverage, Telstra generally provides the most dependable signal. Limited reception may be available in Jabiru, Cooinda, and near the Bowali Visitor Centre.
Litchfield National Park: Coverage is significantly more limited. Telstra may occasionally provide signal near Wangi Falls, but reception is not guaranteed throughout the park.
When making a reservation, passengers must provide their date of birth, any dietary restrictions, and their phone number.
The majority of dietary restrictions can be accommodated, but all requirements must be mentioned when making a reservation. Advance warning is crucial because supplies become scarce in rural areas.
Please mention any health issues when making a reservation. The excursion is physically demanding and requires a moderate level of fitness and good mobility.
Daily walks range from 2 to 4 kilometres and may include steep, uneven terrain, along with exposure to heat, humidity, and direct sunlight. There is a total of 9.5 kilometres of walking involved. For safety, guides may modify the walks. Travellers aged 75 or older must provide a doctor’s approval at least 30 days before departure.
Visitors aged 8 and up are welcome on this tour. A parent or legal caregiver must accompany children aged 8 to 17. Children under 7 are not permitted due to safety concerns and the strenuous nature of the walks.

Vehicle storage is limited. Each passenger may bring a 5-kg daypack and a 15-kg luggage. Larger bags must be stored at your Darwin lodging during the tour.
Itinerary alterations may occur due to seasonal variations, cultural closures, or limited access to waterholes. Your safety remains our top priority, and alternative plans will be arranged if required.
Travellers are encouraged to assist with camp chores, including food preparation, loading and unloading equipment, and related tasks. This laid-back, social setting helps the group bond after a full day of travel.
All travellers must confirm their reservation information seven days before departure.
Yes, please inform us of any dietary restrictions or medical conditions when making your reservation. While we aim to accommodate most requests, guests must notify their booking agent at the time of booking, as this tour travels through isolated areas with limited supplies. Early notice is essential, as sourcing specialty items once on the road can be very difficult.
Most meals are prepared by our guides and consist of camping-style meals that are simple and filling. Some meals are provided by affiliated lodging locations along the route. Guests assist with dinner preparation, cleaning, and loading and unloading the vehicle, helping maintain the camp atmosphere and connect with fellow travellers.

Visitors aged 70 or older must provide a medical certificate at least 30 days prior to departure confirming their ability to participate.

A minimum of 8 passengers is required for departure, with a maximum group size of 21. In case of mechanical issues, an alternative vehicle may be provided to ensure the tour proceeds.
The Australian outback environment may include wild animals, extreme weather, and challenging terrain. While our guides prioritise safety at all times, there is inherent personal risk when travelling in the Top End.
All minors must remain under constant supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Children must be at least 6 years old for day trips and 8 years old for overnight tours. All visitors are required to wear sunscreen, hats, and enclosed footwear when outdoors.
As this journey travels through rural Northern Territory areas with limited medical access, personal travel insurance is strongly recommended. Autopia Tours cannot provide insurance advice; please consult a licensed travel agent or insurer.
Conditions in the Northern Territory can vary significantly. During the dry season, daytime temperatures may exceed 40°C, while evenings can become much cooler. Check the seasonal weather forecast before departure and pack accordingly. Tours generally operate in most weather conditions, including rain.
According to current government directives, immunisation is no longer required to participate. Travellers must comply with all Federal, State, and Territory regulations, including any applicable COVID-related requirements at the time of travel.
Your well-being is our highest priority. Throughout the tour, enhanced cleaning procedures and improved hygiene measures are in place. Click here for additional details.
We at Australia Tours are committed to protecting the rare plants and animals encountered on our Darwin trips. We take our responsibility to preserve local wildlife and minimise impact in this World Heritage Listed area very seriously. In every experience, we emphasise respect for Traditional Owners and cultural awareness.
Educating visitors about low-impact travel, promoting safe wildlife encounters, and supporting the long-term environmental well-being of the places we visit are central to our mission.
Study up on ecotourism: Traditional Owners: https://www.ecotourism.org.au/
The Wurundjeri people are respectfully acknowledged as the Traditional Owners of the land we travel on. All visitors are encouraged to respect cultural sensitivities and recognise the strong ancestral and spiritual ties that First Nations communities have to their homelands.
Wild animals must always be observed without disturbance. Abrupt movements, loud noises, and attempts to interact can frighten animals or disrupt their natural behaviour. Visitors are strictly prohibited from touching, feeding, or handling wildlife, especially birds, as this may spread illness or provoke aggression.
Only certified wildlife handlers may manage or feed animals. Human food can damage their digestive systems, alter natural feeding habits, and result in dangerous behaviour.
Please notify your guide, a National Park Ranger, or Visitor Centre staff immediately if you encounter any animal that appears hurt, ill, or in danger.
Visitors must follow guide instructions, observe safety signage, and remain on authorised walking trails to help protect delicate ecosystems. Leaving marked trails can damage native vegetation, disturb wildlife habitats, and expose you to hazards such as loose rocks, cliff edges, overhanging branches, or slippery surfaces.
All elements essential to maintaining healthy ecosystems — including dead timber, leaves, flowers, and branches — must remain undisturbed.
Trash bins are available in every tour vehicle. Organic waste should never be left on the ground; even items such as bread or fruit peels can harm wildlife or attract pests.
On our Grampians Tour, we strongly recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. While refill stations are available on our vehicles, single-use bottled water contributes significantly to landfill waste. Staying hydrated is essential in Australia’s climate to prevent dehydration and heat stress.
Every guide is certified in Level 2 First Aid. Please inform your guide immediately of any illness or incident. Travellers with pre-existing medical conditions should notify their guide at the start of the tour and bring all necessary medication.
Smokers are asked to use only approved smoking areas and remain considerate of other guests. Smoking is prohibited inside vehicles and all forms of accommodation, including permanent campgrounds. Although comfort stops are scheduled, dedicated smoke breaks cannot be guaranteed. Always dispose of cigarette butts responsibly.
