Great Ocean Road Sunset Tour kicks off with a relaxed late-morning departure, setting the pace for a cracking day on Victoria’s most iconic coastline. We’ll drop into a boutique chocolate stop, spot native wildlife in the wild, and time our run to the Twelve Apostles for golden hour — when the limestone cliffs glow and the crowds thin out.
You’ll roll past rugged headlands, surf beaches and towering limestone stacks, soaking up spectacular coastal views and natural landmarks without the rush. From the first bite to the final sunset, it’s a smooth, well-paced journey that delivers the goods from start to finish.
Get ready to embark on one of the world’s most epic coastal jaunts – the Great Ocean Road Twelve Apostles Tour. As we cruise along the iconic Great Ocean Road on day trips from Melbourne, you’ll be constantly snapping away at those show-stopping views and ocean vistas.
We’ll take a break at a seriously scenic lookout for morning tea that’ll set you up for the day. Next up, we’ve got a special spot set aside for you to try and track down some of the amazing Aussie wildlife – kangaroos and native birds being the regulars you might spot.
You’ll get to hang out on some of the most famous surf beaches, wander through some of the world’s oldest rainforests, and finally end the day at the 12 Apostles in Port Campbell National Park – a real personal best moment.
We’ll be following the 192-kilometre stretch of the Great Ocean Road from Anglesea to Port Campbell National Park with us. First stop will be the famous Memorial Arch – a real piece of Australian history that commemorates the work of the returned servicemen who built this incredible coastal route. We’ll stop for a few snaps with the Great Ocean Road sign before continuing on one of the world’s most impressive coastal drives.
As we make our way along the road, keep an eye out for some of Australia’s unique wildlife. You might see kangaroos grazing in a nearby paddock, or hear the distinctive calls of a kookaburra or a flock of king parrots overhead.
Next, we’ll be heading to the charming seaside village of Apollo Bay, nestled on the eastern side of Cape Otway. This is a perfect spot to stop for lunch (at your own expense), where you can either grab a casual meal at a café in the village or grab some food and enjoy a picnic on the beach.
Moving on, we’ll be heading into the Great Otway National Park, where your guide will lead you through an ancient rainforest teeming with eucalyptus trees that have been standing for centuries, giant ferns, and all sorts of wildlife. This is a great chance to stretch your legs and immerse yourself in what feels like a prehistoric landscape.
And then, of course, there’s the main event – the Twelve Apostles limestone stacks rising out of the Southern Ocean. Spend some time at the viewing platforms taking in the ever-changing colours of the sea and sky. You’ll also get to see the rugged Gog and Magog rocks, as well as views towards Gibson Steps, which is definitely one of the highlights of any Great Ocean Road tour.
Finally, we’ll be stopping at Loch Ard Gorge, where you can wander along the beach and hear the amazing story of the Loch Ard shipwreck of 1878 (which is just one of over 200 shipwrecks that have happened between Port Fairy and Cape Otway over the years). The views of Island Archway, the Razorback, and the Salt and Pepper Shakers make this spot a photographer’s dream.
Our final stop before heading back to Melbourne will be the regional town of Colac, where you can grab dinner (at your own expense) before we head back home. Your guide will share stories and insights throughout the journey, and all entry fees are included. And of course, we’ll make sure to drop you off at one of our designated pickup points in the city.
Don’t forget to bring a few essentials: warm clothing for the cooler parts of the day, sunscreen, a hat to keep the sun out of your eyes, comfortable walking shoes, and a camera to capture the scenery and wildlife you’ll see. This is one day you really won’t want to forget!

Yes, you’ll probably see some wildlife; the route takes you through areas that are crawling with koalas, native birds, and all sorts of other Aussie critters.
Yep – entry and tastings at the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery are included in the price. So if you’ve got a sweet tooth, you can indulge a bit – but any extra treats or gifts are up to you.
No way – dinner isn’t included, but you will get to stop off in Colac to pick up a bite before heading back to Melbourne. Still a good idea to pack a few snacks for the day, though.
