Know Before You Book

What is a suitable age for this tour?

Six years old is the minimum age requirement for this activity. The schedule isn’t suitable for babies or children under five due to its pace and style. Youngsters 6 to 17 must remain in regular private lodging and travel with a parent, legal guardian, or other responsible adult at all times.

How fit do I need to be for this tour?

To complete the specified walks, you will need a reasonable baseline level of fitness. Many routes are up to three kilometres long and may include exposed, steep, or uneven parts. For the safety of your guests, your guide may adjust the walking options. Participants aged 70 or older must obtain a doctor’s clearance at least 30 days before departure, and a medium-to-high level of fitness is preferred.

Do you cater to special dietary requirements?

Of course. To ensure we can make appropriate arrangements in advance, please let us know about any dietary restrictions or medical conditions at the time of booking, or at least a few days before your trip.

What type of food do we eat on tour?

Some meals are provided by lodging owners, but most meals are prepared by your guide using basic, hearty camping supplies. Visitors are welcome to assist with loading or unloading the car, cleaning up after themselves, and preparing meals; this is a terrific opportunity to socialise and get to know other travellers.

Where do we stay overnight?

Depending on the room type reserved, parties may occasionally be split across multiple properties due to limited lodging availability in certain areas. While not always possible, solo travellers who choose a Basic Dorm Bed will share a room with other guests, usually matched by gender. Usually, we make use of the following attributes or comparable substitutes:

  • Night 1 – Downtown Motel – accommodates Dormitory Beds (AM3-B) and Private Double/Twin/Single Rooms (MA3-S, MA3-P)
  • Night 2 – YHA Grampians Eco – accommodates Dormitory Beds (MA3-B) only
  • Night 2 – Gariwerd Motel – accommodates Private Double/Twin/Single Rooms (MA3-S, MA3-P) only

Are National Park fees included in the tour cost?

Indeed. All three of the parks on this tour—Port Campbell National Park, Great Otway National Park, and Grampians National Park—are included in your ticket price. These park passes are issued exclusively to visitors travelling with us; they cannot be purchased separately.

What type of vehicle will we travel in for the Melbourne to Adelaide tour?

Travellers board a 24-seat Mitsubishi Rosa minibus, a cozy, secure vehicle with wide windows for taking in the scenery and high-back seats. Tours may accommodate up to 23 guests and require a minimum of 8 guests.

How much luggage can I bring on tour?

Due to limited storage space on board, please carry only a compact, soft overnight bag and a piece of hand luggage. You should leave any large baggage at your Melbourne accommodation. Unfortunately, travellers who require mobility assistance, such as wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers, cannot be accommodated on this tour.

Do I require travel insurance in Australia?

All visitors are strongly encouraged to obtain personal travel insurance. This journey visits isolated locations where access to medical care may be limited in the event of illness or injury. Please consult a certified travel agency or your chosen insurer to select the right coverage, as we are not authorised to offer advice on insurance products.

What is the temperature like in South Australia?

In South Australia and Victoria, the weather can change rapidly. Please pack appropriate clothing and check the typical seasonal temperatures for your trip dates. Unless you are specifically notified of a cancellation, tours proceed in most weather conditions, including rain.

What is your Vaccination Policy?

Although double vaccination is no longer required under current government requirements, we still recommend vaccination for your own health and that of other travellers.

FAQ

Can I join the tour in reverse, starting in Adelaide?

This tour only goes from Melbourne to Adelaide in one direction. If another operator offers a separate Adelaide-to-Melbourne service, passengers who wish to take the opposite route must reserve it.

What happens if there is bad weather on the day of the tour?

Rain or shine, the excursion is open in most weather circumstances. For safety, guides might, however, modify hikes or perspectives. The itinerary would be altered only in exceptional cases.

Are solo travellers welcome, and will I share a room?

Yes, many visitors go alone. Depending on availability and budget, single travellers can reserve a shared dorm bed or upgrade to a private room.

How much walking is involved overall?

Expect about 6.5km of guided walks over three days. The landscape ranges from rugged Grampians trails to flat jungle tracks. Participants who are moderately fit can take part with ease.

Is there mobile reception along the route?

In several places, the Great Ocean Road has little coverage. Outside of Halls Gap, the Grampians’ reception is likewise inconsistent. In towns, free time offers chances for social interaction.
